Privacy Policy

China Market Guide ("we", "us", "our") operates chinamarketguide.com. This page explains what information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We designed this policy to be readable in under 5 minutes — no dark patterns, no buried clauses.
What We Collect (and What We Don't)
Information you give us voluntarily
- Sourcing request form data: name, email, country, product description, quantities, and any message you write. We use this solely to respond to your request and, if you later ask, to prepare supplier shortlists for you.
- Newsletter email (if you subscribe): your email address only. Used to send occasional sourcing guides and updates.
Information collected automatically (only after consent)
- Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID G-0RD1YFQC0G): with your cookie-bar consent, we load GA4 to measure page views, scrolls, outbound clicks and general traffic geography. We configure GA4 with IP anonymization enabled. We do not use Google Signals advertising features, and we do not send any personally identifiable information (including form content or emails) to GA4.
- Essential cookies / localStorage: we store a single small value in your browser (
cmg-cookie-consent) to remember your cookie choice, so you don't see the banner on every visit.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or data-broker scripts.
- We do not buy or sell email lists.
- We do not ask for — accept if offered — payment details through our forms. If you later buy a service, payment happens through third-party processors (e.g., PayPal, Wise) and we never see or store card numbers.
How We Use Your Information
- To answer your sourcing request (the only purpose of form data).
- To send the newsletter you opted into (one-click unsubscribe in every email).
- To measure aggregate site performance via GA4 (only with consent), so we can improve guides.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling beyond the analytics described above.
Sharing & Disclosure
We share the minimum necessary with these third-party processors, each bound by their own privacy terms:
- Google LLC — Analytics 4 (consent-gated) and Google Search Console webmaster data.
- Formspree, Inc. — our contact form backend, which transmits form submissions to our admin email.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, CDN, and security logs (retained by Cloudflare per their standard policy).
Partner referrals: Only when you explicitly submit a sourcing request that asks for supplier introductions, we may forward your product requirement to a vetted partner sourcing agency that covers your product category. This is disclosed on the contact form itself, and you can opt out by writing "OPT OUT OF PARTNER REFERRALS" in your message.
We never sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Data Retention
- Form submissions: kept in our email account for up to 24 months, then deleted, unless a working business relationship requires keeping the thread.
- Newsletter lists: kept until you unsubscribe (then removed within 30 days).
- GA4 data: subject to Google's standard 14-month retention for properties of this size.
Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / Others)
Regardless of where you live, we extend the same rights to everyone: access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection to processing. Email privacy@chinamarketguide.com with any of these requests and we will respond within 30 days (usually much faster). California residents: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
Children's Privacy
This site is a business-to-business resource and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
International Transfers
Our site infrastructure (Cloudflare) serves visitors globally from edge locations; form data is processed in the United States by Formspree and in our Google Workspace email account. By using the site and submitting your data, you consent to these transfers for the purposes described above.
Changes to This Policy
If we materially change how we collect or use data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes (e.g., adding advertising trackers — which we currently do not use) will be announced on the homepage before they take effect.
